crx/civic owners: zc question

hey I have a question for those who have done the ZC swap. I'm wondering, from start to finish, how much did you spend total on the swap? I can get the motor for about $550 out the door. I realize I will need a new clutch, t-belt, and water pump. Aside from extra fluids, what else did you all buy? My friend just did this swap into his 89 Civic hatch, and he has spent a little over $1200 total! Anyway just wondering if $1200 is a realistic figure or if he just spent way too much on stuff he didn't need.

Re:crx/civic owners: zc question

Lets add it up together ;D

ZC 550
Clutch 120-275
Hoses 25
T-belt 45
Water Pump 35
Oil/Water/Filter 25
Cap+Rotor+Plugs 35
Machine Flywheel 35
Honda MTF 10
88-89 Teg ECU 100

Total $980/$1135
+ WA State TAX $78-$91
Final $1058-$1226

Looks like your buddy was about right, I just guessed those numbers off the top of my head ;D
Price can vary on the clutch, since you could buy a performance one, or a pep boys one.

could someone give me a rough price for a h22 vtec? and are there any standard honda manifolds available to perform turbo conversions?

Re:crx/civic owners: zc question

I think you can get full H22 Vtec swaps for around 2200 bucks, maybe even cheaper.. Includes tranny/ecu/longblock.

Not H-series manifolds have the Precat style design like the HF.. you are pretty much going to have to make a custom one. Or buy one from Revhard/Drag/Greddy etc.

Re:crx/civic owners: zc question

i think my zc cost me about 1200 dollars by the time i was done with it. it was my first engine swap that involved wiring, and i struggled at first, but now i got that ---- down. good times. i had some major electrical problems with sensors on the motor too. it sucked.

zc with tranny-800, picked it up myself
dx tranny becuase the zc was shot and si's are pricey-100
fresh axles-60
new dizzy, 89 'teg-175
CM stage 2 clutch, free from guy i bought motor from cause of bad tranny
odds and ends, who the hell knows how much.
