Default CRX 88 Si B16 or B18B

I am wanting to swap a new engine into my 1988 CRX Si and I am completely new to this. Would a B18B with a B16 or B18C VTEC head or a complete B16 work out better in this car? THanks for any info you all have.

Hmm what are your goals for your car?? Drag, daily driver, AutoX??

Personaly if you have the case I'd buy the a complete B16 swap and the ditch the block and make an LS/Vtec...the B16 tranny is nice than the LS and i think B16 swaps can be had for around $1200 and a LS bottom end can sell for less than $200 and you would have a nice little car...i am currently doing a B18b turbo in my 91 CRX Si and just the LS swa made the car a tune faster and a lot of fun

THat is what I meant by the combo, a B18B or LS bottom end with a B16A or B18C1 Vtc head. I am making it for a daily driver/street racer.

Yea I'd say build the LS/vtec if you have the cash if not a starigh B18a/b would be a fun DD...wish i could aford a B16 swap becuase for $1200 its well worth it for the head and tranny...but I'm sure my Ls-T will be fun enought

I would grab a b16 swap for now and perhaps go ls/vtec later. The amount of money you'll spend trying to piece together an ls/vtec setup is probably more than you'd pay for a straight up b16. B16 heads are kinda hard to find on thier own for a good price. Ls cable transmissions are getting to be a bitch also. Save yourself some headaches and just go for b16 for now, upgrade to ls/vtec later. just my 2 cents.

i would also just grab a b16 for now they move out pretty good in those little cars, ive had an b16 in my and an ls with b16 tranny, but i dont really trust the ls vtecs unless they are completley built right....

THanks for all the input guys. ia m probably going to go with a B18B JDM LS for now, because i found a whole engine today for 450. Later on, after I learn more I'll get a VTEC head on there. Thanks again!

Does it come with a tranny? $450 for a longblock LS isnt a steal of a deal, pretty normal.

If it comes with all the manis, wiring, axles, ecu then I would go for it

No transmission included, I have to find one of those.... I am located in Seattle.

Parts I am thinking I need for the conversion:

HASport billet motor mounts, axles, custom wiring, custom shift linkage, custom ac bracket

90 Integra radiator hoses

PR4 ECU

1990-93 Integra S1 5-Speed manual transmission
