Default Crank Pulley Removal Problems

I tried taking the crank pulley off. But had a hard time taking it off. Any suggestions? I know an impact gun would help. But I have no money to go out and spend couple hundred dollars for the impact gun, compressor. Would it be easier if i take the tranny off and just use a ring gear holder to hold the flywheel?

yeah, you have to find someway to keep the flywheel from spinning, i usually wedge a flathead in between the teeth and a tranny bolt hole or something, then you need a long breaker bar and possibly even a mini sledged to 'motivate' the breaker bar with.

if the motor is in the car you could put it in gear and have some one hold the breaks some times this works

i take out the starter and wedge a bracket (the one on a z6 that goes from the driver mount to the front of the block).
use a breaker bar and pole.
don't have to jack the car up.
good luck.

I used a crank pulley tooll,it was pretty easy to make. Just need to find a nut big enough to fit in the crank then weld a bar to it.

Done this like 2 or 3 times on my celica (same shitty *** situation) and too many times on so many honda cv shafts (whole car moves forward while someone holds the brakes down in 5th gear with ebrake on)
1. Get someone 200+ and strap them down with one of those chain type pulley holders to hold down the pulley
2. get a regular 2 foot breaker bar (not made in taiwan hopefully)
3. if the breaker bar doesnt work then pull off the pole on your floor jack(hopefully you have a full size one) and slide it over your breaker bar.
4 If that doesnt work, rent or buy yourself a damn impact. you always wanted one didnt you?

Starter trick works sometimes but you usually need a really long *** breaker bar.

starter trick doesn't work on hondas will tighten them. and I have had clutchs slip with the gear and friend on the break deal sucks major. what has worked best for me is to take the starter off take a pry bar with a flat angled tip and pit it on the flywheel and agains the block webbing screwdrivers bend to easy then get the car up a little bit in the air and put a two foot bar on the end of you breaker bar and grap hold othe front hood suppors and swing yourself up and down little heat will help too good luck sucks doing them try doning it at 20 in the morning a 20degrees outside brrrrr.
