Crank pulley bolt.

I remember alot of people having problems removing that massive bolt/nut whatever it is..

saw this pic on the net of a good idea to "lock" the crank in place...

Thats pretty slick, dude.

I hate how some Hondas have the insert in the pulley for my speshhhul honduh service t00l, and some dont.

For the ones that don't, but have holes in them: I built a lil tool w/2bolts sticking out attached to a 3ftlong pipe to hold it still. You just slide it in 2 holes and have an assistant hold it while you stand on another pipe attached to a 3/4" breaker bar :D

I broke (2) 1/2" craftman breakerbars on mine. At least i just had to trade it in for a new one. I finally had to use a heat gun, penetrating oil and the pro air tools at my work.

Theres plenty of room in there w/o removing the pan... I'm guessing he removed it for other reasons.

yeah, he prolly took off the oil pan to replace it with his moroso "style" obx pan to go with his obx lightened crank pulley that he is obviously installing too.......

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

hey !!!! was that a stab at my 145 dollar obx oil pan 8) ?!!??! LOL ;)

I must admit that the shitty obx pan with its 2 x 1/2" NPT bungs made turbo drain and oil temp sender installation a 1 minute job

http://www.ecimulti.org/albums/album...0007.sized.jpg

anyway in that pic you can see theres about 2" of room.

^^OH ---- :-X i didn't know you had an obx oil pan, i was just cracking a joke on why that guy had his oil pan off. i just heard they were a bitch to get ligned up correctly and that you have to drill out some of the holes a little bigger where you have the studs for the oil pan.

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

when I took mine off it was a 2 person job, one to stick a screwdriver into the teeth of the flywheel (my engine didnt' come with a cover for it, so if you happen to be under my car with the engine running watch your fingers) and one to stand on the ratchet to get the bolt loose. tightening was the same idea.

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

i did the same in the pic.
but all i used is a #10 wrench...bolt the boxed side to the tanny and put the other side onto the flywheel..

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

I made my own Honduh special tool....my crank pulley has a lot of holes so i just took a long iron stick and welded 2 round stick on it measured from one hole to another in on the crank pulley...I had a spare crank pulley in the shed for measurments and i just put it in place and let it lean on the ground and take a old torque wrench and it comes of lik butter.

a chain wrench and a breaker bar does it every time

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

1. Good Impact Wrench
2. Propane Torch
3. Lotsa patience

I saw Bone post that pic like a year or two ago, don't know if thats his ::). Anywho, I did that Honduh tool with the screws thru the holes bolted to a handle & cracked the pulley into pieces. Then I went and bought an Impact wrench & the rest is history. We'll see what happens when I do my head swap. ;)

Gimpy, thats one ugly ass oil pan, lol

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

I just use an impact gun on mine. And if it still sticks, a little fire wrench to help it along ;D

Re:Crank pulley bolt.

I went out and bought an impact and a torch and they didn't do it for me, so I just stuck a screw driver in there and jumped on the wrench and I won.
