I think the B-series are more prone to breaking sleeves because everyone is all rev-happy with them. The all motor boys experience some failures due to twisting engines 9K+. With a D-series the ports choke and the most you typically see is 8K, with a little less rotational loading due to the lighter piston/rods.

Also the ratio of 300 whp+ b series to d series has to be 100 to 1
