Could This Be A Dizzy Related Problem?

I have some ignition issues that I just can't figure out what could be the problem. Let me explain my problem and see if you guys can help.

First of all I swapped a JDM ZC VTEC into a 93' EG Hatch. When we got the motor all bolted up and ready to go. We cranked it and it started right up. My problem is when we checked timing it was way retarted. So we advanced the dizzy all the way to see if it would fix the problem, but it didn't. We checked TDC twice, the dizzy, cam, and pully are all on TDC. After a 2 weeks later, when I start the motor up in the morning. It would bog down to about 200rpms and is about to stall until I gas it a bit then it would do a normal cold start. Sometimes when I drive it on a cold start it would bog a bit before it goes.

I'm thinking that this could be a dizzy problem. With the timing and the bogging. But not really sure. So I'm asking you guys what do you think? Or know what could be wrong.

so it drives like crap all the time or is it better when it's warm?

It starts up like crap, and drives like crap when its cold. But after the first startup and when its warm it starts up fine. But it seems to idle kind of low even with the idle screw all the way open. And cold or hot the timing is still off.

Now I'm just wondering what are some factors that could retard timing to where adjusting the dizzy doesnt make an affect?

wassup Z!!

i did the swap on this car

condensed version:
swapped JDM ZC Vtec into eg hatch
TDC is all lined up
problem is...
with z6 dizzy advanced all the way, its still not even close to 16* WTF??

It drives sluggish...

are there any difference in USDM and JDM crank pulleys that i'm not aware of???

Wassup. Still trying to figure out the problem. But noone seems to know anything. I just got a respose from a guy on a diff forum who said. He did a z6 with a y8 swap. And the timing light was reading 0 no matter what they did to the dizzy. He said the rotor was rotated by 180 degrees. But then I dont know what that really means.

i'm puzzled by the fact that it should just be as easy as aligning TDC, then shooting the crank with a timming gun and adjusting the dizzy, but its not.

anyone have any other suggestions that we may have over looked.

Well all I know is that I changed cap and rotor. Because I seem to have starting issues. When I plugged it back in. We used the timing light again and then it was advanced by couple degrees. Then yesterday we just retarded it and now the timing is TDC. We resetted the ECU and checked it again. Timing is still TDC. So I'm pretty sure it was dizzy related.

Yeh , this is a real common problem , have you tried using another ecu ...
The civic we got back with a b16a transplant was doing it all the time , repalced ecu now she runs 100%
