Confusing oil consumption. Need thoughts

The 93 dx airport car has always burned oil, but not noticably. I used to just add a quart every month or so. Last week the bitch starts smoking out the exhaust, and smelling like ----.

I take the head off, take it all apart, and replace the valve seals, headgasket, and timing belt. The back of the valves have alot of built up ---- on them, so those get cleaned out too. So now I shouldn't be burning oil, but the bitch is still smoking. The new spark plugs after 40 miles look good, except there is burnt oil residue on the first couple threads. When I had the head off last week, the pistons looked pretty clean, with only a little bit of blackness in the middles of them. All of them look uniform, with none of them looking worse than the others.

Now that I know the oil isn't entering through the valve seals, it's got to be coming from under the pistons or something, they just don't look like the problem either. I mean, there's only so many places the oil can enter the chamber, burn up and come out the exhaust.

All the pcv ---- is unplugged and open, I even drove with the dipstick out to make sure it wasn't a pressure issue.

Give me some ideas. This is pissing me off.

The car has 170k miles. I attempted to do a compression test before doing the valve seals, but the plug got stuck in the head on the first hole. I'm gonna do another one here shortly.

Im having oil burning issues at well... things i thought of were the obvious piston rings, valve seals, and bad turbo..... I cant think of anything else

I say compression check will answer your question ;)

Could have some bent valves in there that arent seating correct which inturn damaged the valve/guide

Compression test will be your answer

That could be, but wouldn't the new valve seals still seal the oil from passing the stem?

Hard to say if the valve is damaged

very true. A buddy of mine who totally fucked his oil drain and thought his turbo was junk after I fixed the line car was still smoking like a chimney for a couple days till it all burned off.

Just another thought as i was pondering the many reasons why my car is smoking and this hit me...

IM still not runing a proper pcv ventilation system.. and thus, may be causeing my smoking..... Brilant i say...

So all im saying is your pcv vlave could be poop thus leading to some crank pressure, thus leading to some blow by, thus your stinky smoke.... I hope this fixes my problem at lease.
