confused about rods
 

I read that someone put ls rods in a d motor. can this be true?

that is common. the big end needs to be narrowed up about .040" i think. LS bearings don't need to be modified. and the small end is 1mm larger so you either have to bush it down or get custom pistons with the larger pins.
