completed my first swap

i just got my b18b with a ys1 tranny in my 91 si. i guess im kinda lying, cuz i dont have my hood on yet, so im not completly done :P. it was the first time i had the balls to go at it, and i learned a whole lot in the experience. the car idles good, and runs strong. i kept all of it obd0 so the wiring was easy. stupid jdmshit.com sent me 1 wrong mount, but i still made it work. i got a clutch from 88 turbo crx (mike) and the thing grabs like a mutha. going from a burnt out stock clutch to this is amazing. i did a timing belt, water pump, etc (all the little maintenance stuff) as well. i ran into a couple snags, but overall it went pretty good. im gonna give it a compression test, and a little time.... but the next step is boost. i didnt take any pics, because my ------ work hasnt paid me in 2 weeks, and i legit dont have even 3 bucks in my wallet right :-\. just thought id share tho.

o yea, and a big thanks to abaz and 88 turbo crx

Re:completed my first swap

I almost forgot to give you support because I kept asking myself some questions. Here they are:

Why would his work not pay him in 2 weeks?

Why would he spend money to do a swap with 3 dollars in his pocket?

Why did he post this topic and think it was ok to not have pictures?

How does he think he is going to go turbo with 3 dollars, no check, and no camera? ???

Is everyone else not posting support because they're thinking what I'm thinking?

After all those questions I thought:

Good job man, it's good to hear everything worked out for you. Hope you get that thing turbo'd in no time. :D

1 - i did just finally get my money... and the 2 checks were for over 500 bucks total... my payroll people are in colorado and im in ma, so they ---- me and get away with it >:(

2 - i had everything i needed (or so i thought) and the little extra money was spent on little ----

3 - i dunno why i thoght i could have no pictures my bad guys. ill get a shot of it before and after tho, with my sexy jung-coated valve cover lol

4 - now that i have the money plus some tax refunds, i should be good to go very soon

i figured i did good for a first timer, i feel alot more comfortable about doing anything pretty much, built my confidence

and my job pays me 15 bucks an hour to open mail 8) and im hopefully gettin extended thru mid july... cuz the company went under and somehow the mail opener has made it thru everything... plus i think im selling my old ---- to a kid locally, but if not ill be selling parts to u guys. so that will get some loot real quick

good job man, although i am a little upset about no pics, but if you come through with some and redeem yourself, it will be o.k. my first swap was a b18b also, fairly easy swap, at least you don't have to wire up any vtec

Re:completed my first swap

vtec is not hard to wire, it's 2 wires unless you go with a real deal pr3 or pwo, then it's 4. good job doing this ----, how long did it take you? my civic was out for 6 weeks while I put the b16 in. I got the old engine out and the new one in in 4 days and then I had the wrong distributor and wrong axles and then a wiring problem that wasn't something I wired up, so I got fucked up. Then I drove it for 3 days and the radiator exploded and I kept driving like a dumbass and the engine overheated and I didn't have my temp gauge hooked up. thanks for listening to my story

Re:completed my first swap

my first swap took two days, i could have had it done in less than a day, but most of the time was spend celebrating and drinking a beer every time i figured something out ;D

yellowcrx6 04-25-2004 11:47 AM

Re:completed my first swap

umm, it took me like 4 days... but porbly under 2 in total hours. i spent some the day sunday, with alot of beer drinking, didnt do anything monday... then it was like half the day tues and wed. and i was good to go. little ---- like a longer mount bolt and some extra flywheels bolts were just time consuming gay ----. if it had to do it again, i could do it alot quicker. the learning was the best part...

o yea, ----....ill go take a few pics now :-[

Re:completed my first swap

well, i fibbed a little bit :P it took me two days to get the swap done and everything was ready to go, then when i went to start it up, i didn't start. it took me 4 more days and about 5 sets of plugs to figure out that i had my firing order wrong ::) but if it wasn't for that, it would have fired right up, man it's a good feeling to turn the key and hear that bitch start up ;D

Re:completed my first swap

my first swap took me 12 hours straight...B16a into a 1990 civic si, me and my dad put it in he is a big mustang guy so i taught him a little about honda power, haha...It was pretty simple just alot of work and my brain was fried after that, and wiring up the vtec and sensors...but overall alot was learned, it was fun, now my engine uns great, and it kicks my single cams ass..
