thats the thing, im not sure how old the oil pump is, but im sure it was re-used, so thats definitely a concern. I am gonna try an oil change and see what it comes down to.

I probably would replace the oil pump with at least a good used one, and also take the pan off and take a look at the bearings.

Spenser, your saying 4 quarts of ---- thicker than lard is gonna pump through the motor right away?

all I"m saying is that something is wrong, and its not the oil

^^ definatly.. did you take the pump apart and clean it before you installed it?

i didnt rebuild the motor so I can only assume. Looks like I'll just be doing some stuff of the sort after the fact.

before i changed the oil.. my car would fall out of vtec all the time (granit thats under 54psi) but i let that go for awhile and the idiot light came on, looked at the oil and everything was ok (still looked decent) but i'm known for reusing my oil filters.. lol.. i did a complete oil change and BAM good nice oil pressure... but normally when a motor is cold.. it makes WAY more oil pressure then warm.. You might want to take the pan off and make sure that the pickup isnt smashed to the bottom

well im wondering about the filter being clogged up as well, it started doing this recently, i thought the cold weather brought it to life, but this was the first filter since the engine break-in, so maybe it still picked up a bunch of metal n junk from the rings sealing up, I will try the oil change first, and go from there.

we swapped a zc oil pan on a z6 once and it did the same thing, not much oil pressure cause the pickup was bottoming out on the pan.
