Codes 10 and 14 NEED HELP, ASAP!!!
>:(Okay, So I swapped the IM on my z6 for the y8.
I got in the car to start it and I got codes 10 and 14(IAT and IAC) So i switched the plugs, disconnected the battery for a few seconds, reconnected it and went to start it again... I got the same 2 codes!!! ??? Didn't make any sense, so i switched them again and took out the ECU fuse for 20 seconds. Went to start it and, you guessed it, same 2 codes!!! Did this quite a few times to no avail. Does anyone know what's going on? FYI: running complete obd1 with p28. I'm using the same IAT I had on the z6 IM and i mounted it on my intake pipe, and a differrent IAC Please someone help >:( |
Re: Codes 10 and 14 NEED HELP, ASAP!!!
Probably swapped the IAT and IACV plugs around. They use the same style of plug. Check the wiring. The IACV will have a blue and a yellow and the IAT is red and green I think. |
Re: Codes 10 and 14 NEED HELP, ASAP!!!
Pin the plugs back to the ECU w/ a tester to make sure you have the right plugs. Also, pull the IAT and see if its melted. Ive seen that a few times, although Im not sure what caused it in either of the cars that it happened in.

yeah make sure they don't share a common ground either because maybe it got disconnected somehow. |

I know they share the same style plugs. By "switch them" i meant unplugged them and plugged them into each others male plugs.
As far as the ground... that would make sense cuz everytime I switch them neither works. Where can I find the ECU pins for the IAT and IAC? anyone with that info? |
Re: Codes 10 and 14 NEED HELP, ASAP!!!
BTW The IAT did look a lil melted but is the same one I had on my z6 IM like I stated before. Never gave me any codes but I got like 5 of them so I guess it wouldn't hurt to switch.
Thanx for answering and keep it going When i get home, I'll swap the IAC to the one I had before, check the grounds and swap the IAT sensor |

Okay, swapped IAC and IAT to the ones I had before and unplugged the ECU!!!!!!
Still same 2 codes. According to my diagram, they do not share a ground so now i'll trace them to the ECU. BTW, I did put a b16a2 Throttle body with its gasket. Could this be the reason I'm getting those codes? Has anyone ever had this happen?!! |
Re: Codes 10 and 14 NEED HELP, ASAP!!!

Re: Codes 10 and 14 NEED HELP, ASAP!!!
FIXED!!!... well sort of
Okay, the plug on my purge valve went on my IACV, but since I only had codes 10 and 14, I never touched it. My IAT was melted and even though if never gave me any trouble in the z6, I guess it was the end of the road for it. Oh how i'll miss it... R.I.P. IAT sensor :X 1995-2006 I swapped the IAT with one from a 94 Ls IM I had in my garage and that did the trick. I unplugged my purge valve and it didn't throw any codes so I'll just take it complety off tomorrow. There is, however, a small problem: I have this engine in a 90 hatch that is converted to obd1 so I grounded the ecu wire with a toggle switch inbetween to make my CEL flash me any and every code. If i don't touch it, its fine and I have no CEL on but if I switch it, it gives me code 10 again. So I took the ecu fuse out for about 10 minutes (dranked a few beers and called my ex), after burping a few times and deleting all of my ex's pictures from my phone (well most of them anyways) i put the fuse back in and the same thing happens. Why do i only get the code if i flip the switch? |
