Clicking when turning
I only hear it when i turn very slightly left. At first I thought it was my CV but I can actually feel this clicking through the steering wheel as if it's steering related. A couple weeks ago I replaced my tie rod boot at the end of the rack (driver's side) and it was fine for a few days, now this. What else could it be?

bizzump

Re: Clicking when turning
have you checked anything? try to wiggle the axle, or it could be your whole rack and pinion.

Re: Clicking when turning
It's your axle try to listen and see which one it is then u will have to replace it to fix the clicking i had to do it twice (different cars)

Re: Clicking when turning
it could be just the boot. I currently have a fucked up boot. it makes that clicking noise and its getting ------- annoying. im too lazy to get a repair kit and actually install it tho :-\

Re: Clicking when turning
is this an EG hatch??? sorry i am unfamiliar w/ what you drive. i have seen numerous people w/ this complaint on eg hatchs and usually it turns out to be the rear glass flexing, sounds like its in the front, but its just echoing. same noise, feeling everything. if not, i would just start checking over suspension nuts and bolts.

Re: Clicking when turning
My GF lil bros DA cv's would click when he had it slammed but once he raised it up a little it would be fine, I noticed my car clicking every now and then and I have a fresh set of axles and I'm pretty low right now :-\

Re: Clicking when turning
This problem happened on my 93 civic lx 4dr and it was the drive axle and it only made a clicking when turning and none of the boots were broken and it was stock height it also happened on my 90 hatch si and it was the same thing and it wasnt lowered either so im saying the axles still and if it is your boot that is broken it may be it because ive replaced them for inspection but they didnt click but it also wasnt severly dry so that may also cause the clicking if bad enough and if it is that bad i would replace the axle because the boot replacement might not work.

Re: Clicking when turning
All 4 of the axle boots are fine, but I know that doesn't mean the axle is good. This is on a eg sedan. So you guys seem to be set that the axle needs replacing? The last time I needed to change the CV axle I don't think I could feel the clicking through the steering wheel though, that is why I am a bit confused.

Re: Clicking when turning
Maybe this time it is just worse but i would bet it needs a new axle and we accually had to replace 2 of them in the 93 4dr because the first one we replaced wasnt the one causeing the noise so try to make sure before you waste $70 like we did

Re: Clicking when turning
i think mine was opposite

Re: Clicking when turning
definatly your axle man.....it doesnt take long with a torn boot to fling all that grease all over everything and destroy the joint.

Re: Clicking when turning
i usually wait until its so bad its obvious which one needs to be replaced cause its so loud or its all ripped open

Re: Clicking when turning
Update:
It was my inner tie rod end on the passenger side. The ball was loose in the socket and I could move it in/out a bit. |
