check engine light

I just reasembled my engine after getting it ported and polished, everything is hooked up right, idle speed correct my vtec engages at the set rpm and everything works properly, but still have a chech engine light after reseting the ecu,the only thing I dont have a oil pressure light when I turn the ignition on, even when I unplugged it could be that? I'm using the p28 ecu on a b16 sir2 becase it does not require a knock sensor, long post.not boosted yet because of this, what could be the problem?

pull the carpet up from your ecu, and count the number of blinks, thn post it. THEN we can help you.

Re:check engine light

what do mean by that, did you meant to bridge the test point where the two pin connector located next to ecu, I have an obd1, but I will see what I can come up with , thanks.

no he meant, your ecu has a red L.E.D that flashes a certain number of blinks. when you can see your ecu turn your key to acc then count the number of blinks before it pauses, then count the next set of number, when it pauses again, count the next set and so on until it repeats itself. post how many flashes you counted.

Re:check engine light

I think mine goes off the number of times the check engine light blinks. I will find out and post later thanks.

lol yes, connect the ECU grounds on that little test connection... a paper clip is sufficient enough.
REmember a long flash = 10, a short flash = 1
So ... one long, and two short would be a code 12.

Seems to me that your oil pressure sensor isn't hooked up right.

Make sure that you didn't accidentally break the nipple off of it into the block!

Re:check engine light

vtec has 2 oil pressure sensors!! lol...

one behind the actual oil filter and another for the vtec itself. its probably a wiring issue.... its like right on the solenoid..

there is the one wire for the 12v to the trigger and one more plug for the vtec oil pressure sensor.
