Cheap cam for twincharged d16z6 question.

Which cam should I use OBX, Zex, Comp Cams, or anyothers out there?
And if anybody has a good price on a cam let me know.

My planned setup:

D16z6 75.5mm vitaras and TT rods

I'm looking to reach 20psi from 3krpms to 7k rpms.

No plans of reving much over 7K to help improve durability.

I'm using a SC14 supercharger and not sure on the turbo yet.

That is not a "twincharged" setup and running an SC and a turbo is going to net you some scorching inlet temps. I'd recommend one or the other.

Re: Cheap cam for twincharged d16z6 question.

I have my SC14 already on a stock d16z6 running 14psig peak w/o any issues.

I have an charged air going through an intercooler my temps have not even 20 deg above ambeint.

My s/c is not always running b/c I have an a/c style clutch on it so the temp. are not a huge concern yet.

With a turbo before the s/c I will be balancing boost pressure with hub switching and throttle switchin for s/c.

Then once I reach a targeted boost level the s/c turns off and I run on only the turbo.

Hmmm...that's a pretty trick setup.

so what drives the SC when the clutch is not engaged?

It becomes a big restriction then, since the turbo is trying to spin the SC.

Yes I have a little knowledge of clutch driven Eatons, M63 for example.

Re: Cheap cam for twincharged d16z6 question.

I have a vacumn operated bypass valve to route air around the s/c to balance pressures similar to the way eaton does.

I am designing the manifolds for the s/c designed to flow enough volume of air around the s/c through the bypass.

Toyota had a bypass circuit built in the SC14 piping.

But the controller for the bypass valve was controlled by an ecu.

The ecu activates the motor for the original valve by actvating 4 electrical circuits, I am assuming to smooth the transition from boost to no boost.

I'm trying figure out a way mimic that control either electronically or mechanically.

In one these pictures of my rough setup shows the bypass circuit that came the SC14 and I blocked it off.

These pictures are my trial and error.
I use a lot less couplers now.
All the hacked up wires have been souldered and heat shrinked.
The stiffer upper bracket mounts are beening made.
With the new brackets and manifolds I can have the s/c sit closer to the engine block to help clear more room for the future turbo.

My orignal questions is what cheap cam I should use on my setup?
ZEX, Comp Cams, Crane, OBX or some other one I did not list here.

I think the problem is with the site. It was working yesterday. I just checked ePhotospace.com and only the homepage works right now.

I would get a brian crower, or a colt, or a zex. Iirc the zex and the comp are the same thing. Oh and in that order.
