Re:changing piston rings tomarow
my rings came with a little guide for the gap
|
Re:changing piston rings tomarow
mine only came with the spec for NOS and NA, no forced induction, will it be safe to have no gap? or gap is a must?
|
Re:changing piston rings tomarow
i would use the nitrous specs...but thats just a guess

Re:changing piston rings tomarow
I held off on doing it today, since I only had one day,and its my first time,I will wait till I have a longer weekend. is it better to be tighter? or less tight?
|
Re:changing piston rings tomarow
tighter=possibility of them expanding and pinching, but less blow-by
|
Re:changing piston rings tomarow
thanks I will give it a try, but I will leave room for expansion.

Re:changing piston rings tomarow
dude...find out the right gaps, thats something you dont want to have to redo
|
Re:changing piston rings tomarow

|

|
Re:changing piston rings tomarow
:o ring gap ring staggering???
I need some more reading to do |
Re:changing piston rings tomarow
yep. the gaps are supposed to be staggered 120deg and NOT parallel or perpendicular to the wrist pin.

Re:changing piston rings!
I'm not worried! even though its a import 4 cylinder, I have a lot of old school v8 vets to help, plus shop time and special tools, thats one good thing about being in the Army, thanks for y'all help. but I would like to know more, instead of depending on those guys for all.
