got a D16z6 motor with 145k on it, i have no clue if the timing belt had ever been changed, but do you think i sould change it before puting a turbo on?

Do you want your valves to bond with your pistons? I did mine at 80k, just to be on the safe side. I'm paranoid about stuff like that. It looked brand new tho, so I'll probably wait till 90 or 100k this time. Do it at the factory-recommended intervals.

 

factory recommended interval for my integra was 90k. it broke at 88k. it's every 60k from now on. luckily, somehow i managed to bend a total of zero valves. rolled the cams over, checked the compression, threw a new belt on and it fired right up. runs like a champ.

just had the belt on my MR2 changed too- because i didn't know when it was changed last. if you don't know, change it- especially if you drive it hard.

 

Always go on the safe side, know they're a little expensive but if you don't know then always trust your gut reaction that says you're gonna get screwed - its usually right (for me anyhow!)

We were taught in school to check the belts conditions, and stuff every 5,000 milesh. Just see if they're cracking or not as stiff as they were when they were new.
