umm...i'm not sure about every brand out there...but the stuff i used to use at my old job was just a brush on kind. Only thing is you have to have an oven to bake it on...ours was running close to 1000 degrees or more. It's a tedious process, and it never really lasted too long on our vscca cars...maybe 4-5 races.

I never heard of it not lasting, I thought it would be a forever type of thing. I'm glad I chose not to do this on my Ls/vtec build.

No, it eventually burns off, depending on how hot your egt's are. If you get the ceramic coating that is done like powder coating, it'll last a long time though.

Learn from me, I painted my engine. It keeps things running hotter under the hood then if you didn't paint it. Only thing I would suggest is maybe sanding and polishing everything down, if you're looking to have something to show colorwise under the hood. But really, engine paint holds more temperature in.

he's talking about ceramic coating the pistons and valves to keep them from getting too hot and exploding.

Re:ceramic coating

its put on just like powder coating its sprayed on than baked on but it is some good sufe it can lower your engine temp about 40 degrees by just spraying your pistons just make sure to use a good company like swain technology all companys are use there own blend of coating and from what i have seen swain is the best
