CEL

I have a 93 CX. I ripprd off my piece of ---- 8 valve head and threw on a dx 16 valve. I've been driving it for a couple of months and everything was good, no CEL's.(except for the 5800rpm rev limit) I just installed a P06 dx ecu and it runs great but I have a CEL. Anyone know why I would get a CEL with the P06 and not the P05? I am running everything from the dx, from the head up.(All sensors)

Re:CEL

LOL. I have a CEL or check engine light........whatever I a little amber motor in my dash.(just kidding) I dont't have any way to tell what code it is. On my old ZC ECU it had diagnostics lights, my 93 does not. What is difference between the block sensors of DX vs. CX? Or how can I find out what code is setting off my CEL?

Re:CEL

Like I said though I have no diagnostic light on my ECU. Either of them.

Re:CEL

Ah, ---- sorry. That was the wrong link. :-[ I was getting pissed for a second. ::)

Ok, just above the ECU there will be a two prong connector. It has a green casing on it. You need to jump these two wires together and turn the ignition on. Then the check engine light will flash a certain amount of times to tell you which code it is.

I'll try to find the right link for you. It explains it better than me. :P

This was in that link though:
OBDI and later ECUs
Find the diagnostic connector, which is a two wire blue connector found near the passengers feet, or in the centre console.
Short out the diagnostic connector with a piece of wire. The check engine light on the dash will flash the problem codes.

OK what the ---- is a "primary oxygen sensor heater".

Dr.Boost 06-25-2003 07:45 PM

Re:CEL

Could be a bad 02 sensor. ???

Re:CEL

Car runs great. And I didn't have a CEL with my CX ECU??? What is a O2 "HEATER"??? My exhaust??? LOL

Dr.Boost 06-25-2003 07:49 PM

Re:CEL

That would be pointing toward your 02. The 02 is heated.

Try clearing the code and see if it comes back. It probably just needs to be cleared.

Re:CEL

Yea but theres a code for the O2 sensor and a code for the O2 sensor heater. I don't know. I did clear the codes and it won't go away. I think I need to pull the bulb.

Re:CEL

Is it 41 or 1?

Maybe you need an 02 from a DX? How many wires are on the 02 you have?

41

Re:CEL

i bet the o2's are different between dx and cx.

Re:CEL

You know............I think a DX has a 4 wire O2 and my CX has a 1 wire. Are 4 wire O2 sensors heated-sensors?
Is that why you asked how many wires, Dr.Boost

Dr.Boost 06-25-2003 09:04 PM

Re:CEL

Yeah, the heated ones are 4 wires. The one on your car is a one wire? That is most likely the problem.

Re:CEL

I have a 4 wire O2 sensor but how the hell could I hook it up? Do you know where the wires go, what they do, or know where I can get a wiring diagram?

Dr.Boost 06-25-2003 09:10 PM

Re:CEL

Two black wires are for the heater, the white wire is the sender to the ecu, and the other is power.

Are the black wires hot and ground?

Dr.Boost 06-25-2003 09:16 PM

Re:CEL

No. I believe they connect to the ecu. :(

Re:CEL

See I didn't think they would because I compared ECU's before I swaped them and the have the same pins in the same locations. Unless theres an untapped harness on my firewall.

Dr.Boost 06-25-2003 09:26 PM

Re:CEL

According to Haynes they connect to the ecu, but it might work to connect the black wires to 12v+ and ground. You still might get a cel though. :-\
