CARB TO EFI

HI, im from the uk and own a 94dx 1.3 sohc 16v with a carb and really wanna know what parts i would need to convert it to efi. im staying with the 1.3 and once it has been converted to efi im planning on dropping in a small turbo running around 8 psi. im hoping to get around 160 to 200hp if possible as it only pruduces 80hp as standard. the reason im staying with the 1.3 is because its cheap on insurance and ive been driving for a couple of months.

You need to find a model with fuel injection and literally take every wire/compenent from the car. I did it before with a 86 crx it wasnt that hard but you need a complete parts car that you know the wiring is good on

You need a fuel tank from a Fi car also..the Dxi (Dpfi) fuel tanks is good to use.

Civic lsi Esi or vti

Personally though i wouldnt bother, go and get an LSi or an ESi and spend the money that you were going to spend on the conversion on the extra cost of insurance, also turbo'ing that engine is a waste of time cos you'll still get smoked by standard CRX's and civic VTi's, also as you want to double the power of the engine no insurance company will touch you, I'm guessing that you are quite young by the fact that you have a 1.3?

Re:CARB TO EFI

well the reason im gonna stick with the 1.3 is to see how much horse power i can actually get of it,also it would help me to gain more experience on doing turbo converions. i cant think of if any cars that are 1.3 litres and turbo charged.if i can get a small enough turbo to spoll up quickly enough itll give me a lot more mid range punch which should give me the edge over standard civics

Re:CARB TO EFI

It is a lot of work and will be quite expensive so you would do better to get a bigger engined car. you will need:

full wiring harness - these are all bound together inside the car so you will get all of the plugs for stuff you dont have like electric windows and ---- there are a few on the dash that wont go anywhere also on the clocks.

ECU - for the car which you are using to swap from, you will need to go MPFi as DPFi is ---- and you cannot chip the ECU for boost, you will also need the mounting bracket for the ECU

Fuel tank - as yours will not support the fuel pump or the fuel lines that you will have to replace

Fuel pump - standard one will be more that good enough

Fuel lines - gotta get some fuel lines to mate up with your new tank and pump arrangement

Fuel filter - gotta get one of these for a PGMFi equipped car

Inlet manifold - from the injection car but i couldnt tell you which, if any, will fit, gotta get it complete with the fuel injectors and all of the appropriate sensors

Throttle cable - as yours i dont think will fit

Doesnt sound like fun to me but whatever...

cheers but i think i can use my original distribitor but ill take your word for it

Re:CARB TO EFI

If you are on carbs you will only have two wires going to your dizzy, to run MPFi you will need to have the CYP TDC and CKP sensor in there which you dont have therefore you will need a new dizzy

SNIPRD 01-08-2005 09:21 AM

Re:CARB TO EFI

what are the cyp and the ckp
