car wont start. throws cel 16 ( STCOK d15b2 engine ) ???????

So i have this 1990 civic 4 door LX. it has been giving me trouble for a while now. seems it only wants to run when it wants to. It throws a CEL 16 and I can figure out where to trouble shoot. I looked around and found that some people say the Main relay sometimes causes this but im not 100% sure on that. another thing is that i replaced the injectors with some i found at the yard and it started right up. however its not wanting to fire up again. it seems as if the injectors arent opening or something. like the power to them is not there or something.
If anyone has had this problem please let me know what to look for as i need to get it running ASAP.
Its got a d15b2 stock engine with no mods. its bone stock.

thanks again. Julio

listen for the fuel pump and a click in the pass side foot panel. if u hear the pump and a click then main relay is most likely fine.

basically the solder joints crack when they get old................main relay usually acts up when it's hot out

yup.

listen for the clip below the dash near the fuse box and for the fuel pump to prime.

usually mine will start then just immediately fall and die. a couple cycles of the key from off to on (not start) and she clicks and works again.

happens when the interior of the car is warm, like if it's sitting in the sun all day long.

It is the main relay, mine was doing the same thing a few weeks ago. I would randomly not start and get a code 16 (Fuel Injectors). I tried just unplugging them and replugging them and it worked the first couple times, then not anymore. I took the main relay out and just re-heated all of the joints so the solder would flow again, started right up every time since. You could see that a few joints had gone "dry" from heat and vibration.

I can almost guarantee that's your issue.

its weird, i used the Main relay from the flat black 4 door on the blue 4 door and it works great on the first start up. after that i dont hear the click from the main realy. the funny thing is that the main realy from the blue 4 door works fine on my flat black one. WTF???? however when i put the original one on the blue 4 door it doesnt start for ----.

I usualli have to turn it off completely and either wait a few second to hear the click and then try and start here up 9 which in all cases works fine ). or if i crank the car over without hearing the main realy clicking then i get the code 16 and it wont run. I have to clear the code by pulling the hazard fuse.

when you guys speak about the solder is that under that black cap of the realy? i know resoldering them would be more cost effective but then again would a new one be better?

thanks for your replies.
