car runs and has no power
 

in my 89 crx i have an ls/vtec setup. the car had great power till tonight, it now has none. the block i put the b16 head on, i dont know how many miles were on it. if the powerloss was from bad rings wouldn't it be more of a gradual thing rather than sudden like this. the car still runs, idle is very low and it tacks up very very slowly like its missing but its not missing. everything looks good i dont know whats wrong with it. really pissing me off though i know that...please help

What have you checked? compresson good? something noticed on my ls/vtec when I first put it in, was the exhaust was plugged, and was slugging the ---- out of it, besure to have the cat removed, and a pretty decent size pipe.

How are all the tune up parts? cap/rotor/plugs etc? may also be your distributor, might wanna get a test one and see if anything changes.

What kind of injectors, and ecu are you running?

i checked everything distributor wise. cap rotor wires. ecu is throwing no codes, i really am boggled, plugs look a little lean but fine, stock injectors with a pr3 ecu (thats why its so damn lean) exhaust is a dc header and 2.25 back with no cat and a high flow muffler. i'm going to do a compression test right now

Do you have a cat. converter on your car. This may sound stupid to some but on my civic w/ a ZC was racing one night and all of a sudden I had a loss in power and trq. I tried everything ( i.e. checking timming belt to see if it jumped , ) and all along my cat. was soo clogged up it was causing a ristriction. I replaced the cat. and my cars ran fine since. Sometimes it's the simple and stupidest things that cause the problems.

Yup, but I think he just said "no cat"

so that would rule out his exhaust problem..

I think your not getting enough fuel, I ran a stock pr3 program on my zdyne just to get my LS/Vtec started, and it wasnt to fast. I really had to modify the fuel map to get some power, I believe it was almost 12% more fuel. Keep dicking around, and you will figure it out.

so the compression test went very bad +- 120 in all the cylinders. i was ready to rip my whole motor down again but before i did i checked to see if it jumped timing again(i did check before but it was like 1100 oclock and dark) sure enough it did jump one tooth. any tips on avoiding this problem again. the belt i am positive was very tight and should not have jumped i wasn't even driving it hard.anyway i took the 5 minutes and retimed it and its def. got the power back ;D
