cams camshafts and pistons

I was thinking of upgrading the internals of my d16y7 with a cam, a camshaft and new piston heads. How much hp would I gain from this? Also, what if i got a ported and polished manifold? One more thing, could I use one camshaft from a type R engine for my engine?

Thanks
TT

first, no, you cannot use a type r cam in your engine because a type r is A) a bseries engine and B) has a dual camshaft design.

second.. the piston head? no such thing... and they wont give u much HP unless u get HIGH COMPRESSION pistons.

third. a Cam and a Camshaft are the same thing ;) go to your local performance shop and ask what they have..

do a port and polish if u want.. not sure on the gains there. but port and polish the head too.

good luck

haha....i like that...type r cams on a d series. well...lets toss that out of the picture. but the cam deal. it'll give you the most power for bolt on.....well...next to the nos/turbo/charger route. but it'll give you the power you want. but sooner or later, you'll want more. the port/polish will give you minor gains in the hp department, but not if its only done on the manifold. you have to match the head and the mani......and also redo the combustion chamber if you want more hp. now you can go the ghetto way buy milling the head....but that afffects timing a bit. and the pistons are a good idea if they are high comp pistons. unless turbo was the issue...then you are A O K with the stock....haha....i love your terminology. make use of the searches from this and other sites before asking. know what you're talking about before asking for more. like they say..." when the student is ready, the teacher will appear" just my 2 cents...good luck
