What i need is : description, but PREFERABLY pictures of the cable to hydraulic swap... I have an L bracket thing w/ 4 holes, and an arm type thing that looks like the plunger from the hydraulic clutch fits into. Anyone have pictures??? Thanks. ~Kevin |

Re: Cable to Hydraulic tranny conversion... I NEED PICS! PLZ
Aren't b-series cable trannies harder to come by than b-series hydros?
Seems like the cables are more expensive. I would just sell that cable tranny and pick up a hydro, save yourself the headache, and probably make a few bucks in the process. I don't think I've seen a cable to hydro conversion before... |
Re: Cable to Hydraulic tranny conversion... I NEED PICS! PLZ
the hydros might be more abundant...but they do cost more(or should)...and that is a fairly common conversion.

Re: Cable to Hydraulic tranny conversion... I NEED PICS! PLZ
I thought the conversion kit went the other way, so you can put a Hydro operated trans into a cable actuated clutch?
|
Re: Cable to Hydraulic tranny conversion... I NEED PICS! PLZ
your thinking hydro trans in cable clutch car?...that requires a lot more.
|
Re: Cable to Hydraulic tranny conversion... I NEED PICS! PLZ
to un-confuse people... I have a cable operated tranny, but my clutch in my car is hydraulic.
Anyone have any Hydro b trannies lyin around??? Located around RI? imma go look in the f/s section too. |

This is really simple. I did a cable b16 LSD in my EK. The hardest part is the tranny mount. If you have that then the rest is cake. First you need to make that little "L" brasket. 1/4" steel or aluminum works great. I used aluminum and I think the hasport kit does too. Also, buy a small (diameter) male helm joint at napa or the hardware store. Go to the hasport link that Ogubudiah put up earlier in this post and look where the brasket is located. Make a template of the holes on the tranny (these holes are prethreaded) and transfer that to the metal you're using. Then make a template of the holes on your car's slave cylinder. Transfer those holes to the metal so the slave cylinder points straight up. Drill all 4 holes and mount the bracket to the tranny, then mount the slave cylinder to the bracket. At this point the slave cylinder should point straight at the black throw-out arm on your tranny. Drill a hole in the arm directly above the slave cyclinder then measure from that hole (this the arm pull all the way down) to the middle of the slave cylinder. Cut your helm joint to that measurement and insert it into the slave cyclinder where the old rod use to be. Stick a bolt through the arm and helm joint and tighten with a nut. All done. You can do the whole thing without cracking open the clutch lines and having to bleed. Follow the hasport site for pics.

I know thats not too much harder, but it requires more parts to buy and install.
You just need to make a bracket that pivots like this: http://explicitspeedperformance.net/...s/IMG_1750.jpg Also, I see that some companies now make kits to put cable trans into hydro cars. Both are easy then with a kit. |

To have the slave cylinder push the cable arm needs to be mounted under the arm. You need to get the positon correct to provide full movement of the arm. |
