Default built motor break-in

Whats up guys, ive searched around everywhere trying to decide on how im going to break in my motor. Its a d16z6 built for for boost with srp pistons, eagle rods, stock sleeves, i just put the motor in but havent started it yet. I was hoping to get some advice on breaking this in. I like the whole idea i was reading about a hard break in but my problem is i also got a new clutch and flywheel and from what i understand you have to go pretty easy in breaking those in, unless im wrong. The motor wll not be boosted until probably this weekend or next week, reason is i want to drive it some after the build to make sure i have no problems (first build so i have to see if i screwed anything up :1) Basically what im asking is, since its breaking in new pistons, rods, rings, clutch and flywheel should i just break it in easy and keep the rpms low? or would i want to rev it high and just not slam it into gears? sorry may be kind of confusing rambling but im trying to make my first build go as smooth as possible

I can understand how you feel, after everytime I build a motor I get a little anxious... and always tell myself I'll go easy on it. However, I never do and I have never had any problems... I just drive it normal, dont beat the complete living ---- out of it right away, but you dont have to baby it to death. I'm a very impatient person, so my cars are usually boosted right after I build them, so I usually break them in at wastegate min (8-10psi).

Just remember, no dirty 2nd's and no 1-5 rippers the first 500 miles and you'll be fine.

I like to start it up, let it get hot. Shut down and let it cool while you check ---- over for dumb stuff/leaks.
Start it back up and go drive, give it some good load at varying rpms. The ring seal will pretty much be done in only a matter of miles, IMHO. Change the oil asap, especially if you've dingle-ball honed it w/ the crank/engine in the car. Ive seated more than a few sets of new rings on 10lbs, and I think is was a good thing to do.
Save the dirty 2nds for atleast a week, then let her rip.

I've always done the harder breakins. Rings need the load to set. I actually still have this article from a LONG time ago regarding theories. Its pretty cool and YOU ALL SHOULD READ IT!

Hope this helps.

i was hoping someone would like to that article. Seems like a good idea to me. I guess each person can vary their break in procedure to their style and use of their motor.

heres what Larry Widmer aka "the old one" reccomends
" Use only genuine Honda Oil Filters !!

Use 05-30 non-synthetic motor oil ONLY !!

Do Not operate the engine over 3,500 RPM during the first 200 miles of driving. You may increase the engine speed by

500 RPM for each successive 200 mile increment of break-in.

Replace the Honda Oil Filter after the first 200 miles of operation.

Change the oil and filter after 1000-1200 miles of operation. You may use synthetic, or a quality non-synthetic oil.

We use and recommend the use of 05-30 Mobil 1 motor oil.''

im reading up on that right now. interesting theorys on wearing down the cylinder wall hone.
i may try this after my build.
it seems that he does agree on not using synthetics durring the 1st 1500 miles durring the breakin, or 2 full days of hard racing.
nice info. ill have to bookmark this site.
