Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
I've currently got a pair of rear cross drilled/slotted Brembo rotors on. I'm also using the AEM high performance brake pads. Christ does it make alot of noise, I'm pretty sure its the rotors, was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem with Brembo rotors or maybe its just the cross drilled/slotted?

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
yeah my cross drilled rotors are loud as ---- when it comes to breaking.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
I can't see it being the rotors fault.. my bet is on those AEM pads, probably a high performance type? well that means noise. Try OE or EBC Green stuff pads.

I agree with crx88si.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
hmm then why do my brakes squeal when i stop. i got some cheap raybestos brake pads. but my dads astro has the same brake pads just orginal rotors and it doesnt make any noises

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
well when you press the brake pedal the AEM pads grip the brembo rotor...
try switch the AEM pads to OE. give them the break in period and see. |
Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
there are 2 major type of break pads.
1) metilac- they have little metal flaked in the break pad to produce more friction for stoping and they squeel like a trash truck. they are the cheap ones. 2) Organic- they have no metal in them therefore they are quieter. on the astro there is proberly organic. you are proberly using metalic. |
Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
oh well whatever works. as long as it stops iam okay

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
performance = noise, fact.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
Mine are not squeeling though, they make a really loud scratching sound (like dragging a knife on top of sheet metal sort of). Or when its cold out they hum.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
the pads are so hard because they are for fadee free performance blah blah blah that the slots are digging into them.
|
Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
if you change type of pads, chage rotors too. they get fucked if you start mismatching them mid way through. just get new pads a rotors, problem solved

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
lol but thats not cheap or easy to do :P I need a blow torch to pull the god damn rotor screws out with.
|
Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
torch to get those two little screw on the hat out? NO use an impact driver.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
i like my aem pads. however these are the first pads i ever changed from oem.
did you get brembo blanks that were drilled by some shop? that could explain a lot. if you got the real brembos that are drilled by brembo, i think theyre about 150/pair or something. |
Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
i have powerslot rotors and axxis pads. the rotors suck the pads are ok. i used tohave stillen rotorsthatwere the nutsthey cost me $150 a piece. also i just got carbon fiber pads and i havent put them on yet.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
I have brembo cross/drilled rotors that are great, with reg wagner pads, thermo something. Everything works great.

Re:Brembo Rotors Crap? or AEM pads?
I've got brembo drilled/slotted rotors with AEM pads. At first they sounded noisy, but after a few days they seated properly and now they're fine. Maybe your rotors need to be turned or?
