Guys it's that time again my rear breaks done gave out on me, and I'm horrible when it comes to doin' anything that includes suspension, and etc... on the car everything else I can handle like a pro. Anyways does anyone knows of any sites that could give my play by play pictures etc.. for the rear drums for a 96 dx coupe thanks the only reason I ask is cause couldn't find the book for my car

'brakes' not 'breaks'. After that, changing the shoes on rear drums can be a ------- pain in the ass. When I first got my STD, the rear shoes were bad, so I took of the drum off, and all of the springs and pins and ---- just fell out. After about 4 hours of working on getting it back together, I said, "---- this ----!" And I went, and yanked the rear disks off of a junked CRX about a block away. :) Drunken rage. Gotta love it. Get a Haynes, its helps. - Matt

rear drums are a pain in the ass.. they usually take a long time to wear. you might be able to just adjust them.

if not. better off takin it to a shop.

rear drum brakes are actually really easy, they are just ------- REALLY annoying. you had better have a lot of patience if this is the first time you are doing it. you are really going to hate those ------- springs...

anyways, just make sure that you ONLY DO ONE SIDE AT A TIME. i cant stress that enough. if you get lost, just look at the other side that you haven't touched and you will be all good. actually, you dont even need a manual to do this job, installation just is the reverse of the removal. except that the removal is WAY ------- easier than install.

i say just do it, plenty of people here can help you if you start to get lost, but i doubt you will. like i said its pretty easy and strait forward, the springs are the only annoying thing.

also, i hear they sell a special tool just for those springs which would make your life MUCH easier.(im just too cheap to spend the $20 or whatever and just use normal pliers)

He's right, you can adjust becasue honda's have a self adjuster, but sometimes they don't move. If you can CAREFULLY screw the screws through the drumm to get it off, you can just turm the adjuster with a flathead. Rear drums eat ----. - Matt

Sorry about the misspelled word, anyways how ca I adjust them, I just got this car about 5months ago

It looks like a little gear, it's called the clevis. Spin the adjuster clockwise, and it pushes the brakes shoes out. - Matt
