Re:break in?

You just need to go easy on it the first 500 miles, yes you can boost, just dont beat the living ---- out of it.

Re:break in?

So many different methods to breaking in an engine....

My method that hasn't backfired yet:

Start the engine up and slowly rev up and down across the rpm's, but don't go over ~3500ish.

Turn off the engine and let it cool down COMPLETELY.

After engine is cooled down COMPLETELY, start it back up and let it warm up COMPLETELY. Bring it through the revs again.

Rape away. Change the oil.

Everybody will argue with different ways of doing it. Some people will say you need to baby it for like 50,000 miles and change the oil every stop light, but that's horseshit.

Yer damn skippy. :P

You're not one of those 50,000 mile break in guys are you? :P

I've heard of people raping motors after the first warm up. Some people swear by it. :-\

Re:break in?

You should see what I do to brand new cars with 3 miles on the odometer :-X

On my personal cars I do go easy on them the first few hundred miles and change the oil after 500. You too would probably do the same after you spent 3000+ on a engine. :)

Re:break in?

Bah, you and your damn B series motors.

I'm actually going to build a motor for my Civic. After thinking about it and knowing how dumb I am and how I have that dude in my head saying "Turn the ------- boost up you -----" I'm just going to start building something that will take an ass beating. I'm on a flatrate budget of $450. 8)

Re:break in?

I don't know about engine break in, but Jeff did teach me the proper break in after a turbo install... a big fatty burnout! I kinda did a ----- burnout though because I was running no fuel management and I was scared to blow my motor up.
