brake problems
 

I'm having issues with the brakes on my '91 CRX Si (has the 4 disk system, no drums). I had a rear right caliper seize some time ago, and replaced it. I bled it, only that caliper since the others weren't unsealed. Test run, brakes were bad, had to pump up pressure to stop. I got too busy to deal with it and let it sit for some time. Later, tried to bleed it again, got a lot of air out of rear right, a little out of the front left, the other 2 were ok. But as soon as I opened the right rear the first time, I couldn't get pressure to build even with repeated pumping, the petal goes to the floor with very little resistance.
I just tried to bleed it again today and I get more air than fluid from the right rear. I can hear air hiss out, sometimes I get fluid with bubbles. Like before I had a little air in front left, others were good. I've bled that one too many time to count, but can't get good airfree fluid.
I'm pretty sure I'm doing it correctly: My wife presses and holds the petal (sometime I've had her pump it a few first), I open the valve a second, watch the fluid flow though the tubing, close the valve and then she releases the petal. One wierd thing I noticed: Both front wheels are hard to turn (brake drags) even with the petal released, but both rear brakes turn freely, even with the petal engaged.
I think some air worked its way up to the master cylinder while it was sitting, because it make a noise when pressing the pedal. Is that possible? I never allowed the resevoir to go dry, so no air came in through the top.
How do I bleed the master cylinder?

did you use glass bottles at each corner?? i put fluid in each bottle dip the line into the fluid and pump till no air bubles come out. that way you know if any air comes out.
also is your cap off the master cylinder??

I've been leaving the cap on, except to check/add fluid.
I didn't use the glass bottle, but I'm using clear tubing and can see the air bubbles flow by.

try takin the cap off, unless it over-flows. cause air can come out there too.

happened to a friends MR2 once, it turns out to be clogged brake line.

I got it fixed. I removed the res cap (and the filter) like you said and pumped, there were tiny bubbles rising. I just kept pumping until the bubbles finally stopped, then bleed every caliper again. They all had air in them this time. I did the bottle thing, the fluid that came out was milky and nasty. I don't know if it was just the air foamed up from pumping so much or if the fluid was contaminated from the air being in it so long. Anyway I bled everything until it was clear and air free, brakes feel good now.
