Bouncing Idle. Can partial plug t/b hole and get it steady 750??? WTF

Had this prob for a while now but I used to have an exhaust so I can bear it. Well my exhaust was stolen when the car was so I dont have an exausht for now, just a small piece of pipe and a resonator. So its loud

So my cars idle bounces from 1300-1600 pretty quick when full warmed up, but if I take off my instake and partially cover this hole here

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/f641a71e.jpg

I can get it to drop to about 700, coverring the hole what seems to be like 75%

So how the ---- do I fix it? Its jsut taking in too much air I think

Its a JG 62mm t/b, TPS is still factory riveted. IACV was cleaned a while ago, swapped for a good one and still nothing

Why is this fucker sucking in so much air?

Hope you can help, bump if you look at it, Im off to work and need this fixed before I put it on the road.

Thanks

vac leak...mine did the same thing when i got the wrong gasket and there was a very slight leak. you said you just cleaned the iacv...i would make sure you didn't lose the rubber o-ring gaskets for it.

have you tried adjusting your idle as per the proper procedure in a manual?

If your idle is too high, it will bounce. If it's a vacuum leak, I think the idle will just rev high (no bounce).

wrong... vac leak will bounce but bounce high as ----... what motor do you have? someone else did like some JB weld work on the back side of the throttle body to prevent "to much" air going in... seemed to work fine... i think it was kyle

that whole is partially a path to the AIC valve on the bottom of the throttle body, which causes the idle to bounce up and down like that when they go bad.

well guys, last night I said ---- it as it was getting on my nerves having it bounce at stoplights and was pissing me off, so I cut a small piece of really thin sheetmetal and jb welded it almost over the whole completely, leaving a tiny little itty bitty hole.

Took about 2 tries to get the whole perfect size so it wouldnt die on cold startup but it idles at about 900, Im happy for now

$2 total cost to fix
