bogs at part throttle driving

hi..i have a friend with a 93-civic vei (vx) d15z1. and when you drive it on the freeway it feels like it looses power for a sec (bogs?), then you have to get on the throttle a bit more to get the power back. it never happens when you accelerate or de-accelerate, and only when the engine is warm. there is no cel code. but if i for exampel take of the plug for the o2 sensor the cel comes on and the problem is gone.. any ideas what the problem can be?

Sounds like a basic tune up is needed plugs, cap, rotor, fule fuilter. Proablems like that are usually a result of things in that manner.

iīve changed cap, rotor and plugs.. but anyway i donīt think thatīs the problem since it dissapears i safe mode..

that's a VTEC-E motor, right? it has a lean-burn mode for cruising from what i recall, which is why it uses a wide-band O2 sensor. here's an educated guess: the O2 sensor is failing, so when the ECU tries to go into lean burn mode, it isn't supplying the right amount fuel. getting back on the gas kicks it out of lean burn. when you unplug the O2, it the CEL disables lean burn.

yes, itīs a vtec-e engine.. thats just what i was thinking.. the problem also dissapears if i unplug the tps btw, but i supouse it disables lean burn as long as the cel is on.. du you know where i can get a "cheap" wbo2? OEM costs about 200$ over here..

any more ideas? tps? map? wish there was a better fault finding program on the car >:(

thnx for all the answers btw.. and sorry for my bad english..

1st gen B16's have a similar problem with their O2 sensors. If tehy are not connected properly to the ECU it will bog just as your does. My money is on the O2 sensor. $200 sounds liek a decent deal for a wideband O2 to me. I'm not too familiar with the different types of WBO2's but I beleive most go for around $300...

hmm.. okey, but 20$ is still alot of money, if the o2 ainīt the problem.. i think i will try and find a used one..

the haynes manual said you could mesure the lambda, but im not so sure you can do tha on a WBo2.. anyone??
