Block sleeving process?

Just curious as to what's involved when sleeving a block. It's quite expensive from what I've heard. I plan on doing this in my backyard tonight so tell me what to do!!! j/k. Does the machine shop just press in the sleeves or what? Seems like a lot of labor $$$ to just press something in there. What else is involved that I don't know about? If you have a link that would be tits.

they machine two steps into the cylinder walls and they press the sleeve in the hole. the tricky part is they have to make the 2 step hole as close to the same diameter as the sleeve which is a 2 step size also. 2 step means the bottom of the sleeve or hole in smaller in size then the top.

Ok I still don't get it. If someone had a link with like a 3w4957 page write up that would be sweet. I would like a pretty detailed explanation.

i saw a step by step article once, it was very interesting, and yeah, it's pretty complicated and requires some very expensive equipment and knowledge. just to get an idea, here's some equipment you will need.

Just get the honing stones and grind the cylinders until you and push the sleeves in. Lubricate the sleeves with JB weld when installing to lock them in place. you can use a bubble level to make sure all the sleeves are close to parrallel.

After all that, fill the water jacket with cement to further stiffen the block, and you'll be good to go.

Just don't run the engine for more than 20 seconds or so.
