Is this block ok? surface ruston on the walls. Also pics of the crank
I'm thinking about building my block. I got this block and it came with a messed up timing belt tenetioner threads stripped.
Anyway that was a while back, I want to see if this block is savlageable for building up. I think thinking of using scat rods and ftr's pistsons. Let me know what yall think about the pictures http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400056.JPG http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400057.JPG http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400059.JPG http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400060.JPG http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400061.JPG http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400062.JPG http://www2.latech.edu/~njt002/blockpics/DC400063.JPG |

i would bore the block .5 over and micropolish the crank
unless u dont give a damn about longevity |
Re:Is this block ok? surface ruston on the walls. Also pics of the crank
a quick hone on the block will tell you if you need to bore it out or not. if you hone it and there is pits then definitely bore it. but if it is clean and smooth then go for it.

define logivity,
Are we talking two years? I dont want more than 2 years out of it, thats about 15-20k miles. Also, if I bore the block would that give me more combustion space? Does that mean it would no longer the a 1.6l? Nick |
Re:Is this block ok? surface ruston on the walls. Also pics of the crank
technically it's not a 1.6l anyways then :P
boring it (.050) wont add that much cc's |
