Bleeding Coolant??
 

well, I've been running the hack for about 2 months now. The problem lately is i noticed my radiator cracked and was low on coolant. Around that same time that's when my idle surges up and down when idling. it surges a few times then stops and takes awile to idle correctly. My only other conclusion is too change my radiator that i just picked up and bleed the coolant. Anyone know how to do it the propper way? thanks

let the car run with the cap off.. make sure it gets hot, and runs it through then top it off.

also there is a bleed screw on the block neck, where the hose comes out..

ohh okay..so basically, let the car run with the cap off untill it spills? so i don't have to take off the bleeder next to the t-stat? i'll try it this sat. Hopefully the surges stop.

You have a bleeder next to the thermostat?

What I liked to do is after letting it warm up with the cap off and filling it to the top, close the system and open the bleeder. Connect a tube or find a container to connect to the bleeder and fill the container with water. With the hose or container sealed to the bleeder, pump the radiator hoses by hand until no air bubbles come out. It will blow out the air and suck in the water each time you pump the hose. This is the best possible way to bleed the system.

The way I do it... is, (when cold) fill the system (crack the bleeder) and fill until you have a steady stream coming out. Then squeeze the hoses really good and try to get all the bubbles out. Start the car up and let it get real hot... let it idle for a bit, then rev it, and keep adding coolant until the T-stat opens. Then turn the heater on, throw the cap back on put some fluid in the resivor and your good to go..

well, i'm changing the radiator anyways, But when draining all the coolant fluid, putting the new radiator on. Will this eliminate all bubbles? Just fill up the radiator with fluid till it fills up then cap off and let it run or let it run with cap off?
