ZC/SI TRANNY. It's the tranny i run and it's basically like night and day. zc gears tighter than an si and the si fd rather than the crap zc one. great combo.

Ya works like a charm. Here is a link http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/zcsifdswap.html. Makes a d series motor really open up. gears are so close feels awesome. I picked up 3 mph in the quarter with this tranny.

you could get the 4 wheel drive wagon transmission, that would be pretty good. Honda Tuning is doing a crv 4wd in an integra, they haven't finished but they have some info about it in the octorber issue.

now stock would be the si. the gearings in this l3 isnt bad at all. but for drag..and alittle moding..you can build yourself a perfect tranny.
start with the si trans. ripe it open. pull out the 3rd and 4th gear sets and replace them with the JDM zc 3rd and 4th. the gearings would change drastically and you have your choice of 5th. .878-jdm zc .771- usdm crx si .750- 92-95 si/delsol .702- 92-95 civic 2/4 dr .694- crx hf these are the choises from 5th, and i would suggest leaving the fd from the stock L3 si trans. this is what your trany will look like stock w/ jdm zc 3rd and 4th 1st-----3.250 1st----3.250 2nd-----1.900 2nd---1.900 3rd-----1.250 3rd----1.346 4th-----0.909 4th----1.033 but if turbo was in the future for this d....just keep the stock L3. good luck |

yah.. it all really depends on power and type of power. the DX trans would be great for building lots of boost and keeping it w/o switchin gears as often.
More or less. you want to be at redline as you cross the final trap. if you have to switch gears 100ft b4 the finish line that will hurt you. |

I have a few friends with ZC's and they say the DX tranny's seem to work better than the Si trannys.

dx are cool if you want to keep it in gear for BOOST...or have a higher top end. thats only if your motor can pull you that fast. but si's are better all around. in honda motors...its all about mid range power. the dx will keep in in mid for a short period of time and by the time you shift, you'll be at 3k cause the gears are so long. most honda engine(except crotch rockets) make power from 4200-6800....thats kinda where you want to stay. mid at 4200 will help speed more then bottom at 3000...plus your car will bog due to too much fuel still in the chambers. thats why they dont make LONG gears for their race worthy B's w/ vtec. just my input...

Ok, I'm sorry to bring back an old thread, but I'm wondering if you could use a B-series manual tranny with a D-series motor? Also, are the transmissions different between VTEC and non-VTEC engines? Thank you |

Bseries tranny will NOT bolt to a Dseries motor.
a vtec tranny and non-vtec tranny will interchange. But the only "non-vtec" tranny s in the Integra b18b versions and CRV's (dont even bother w/ a CRV trans). Just as a correction.. I wouldnt refer to the LS trans as a non-vtec trans. That's not how they're really distinguished. They are called s1, ys1 s80 crap like that, which I dont know ;) |

I have an Si that makes noise and a DX tranny sitting here. I've had both in my car, and the Si only seems to help in 3rd and 4th, but with boost, I'm not worried about that. 5th sucks on Si, I always feel like I should have another gear, cruising at 3-4k blows ass when you have exhaust and no interior.... I'm gonna put an LSD in the DX and turbo the hatch, it's light enough where I should be ok....

i have a 4 speed 88std anyone know about those it does 60mph at 3k 80 at 4k
i just bought a 90 si trans will the axles fit from a 4 speed car will be turboed soon |

Sorry guys I like to keep the skin on in the inside of my ride. Ladies don't like loud crappy looking rides. If the no interior made that much of a difference on the street the I would take it out but it really doesn't. I might take it out at the track though. Plus it will be boosted as soon as this crappy weather will get the hell outta here. It's so cold and rainy that just on my z6 that if I floor it the tires just spin. Suck. The other day it was one degree.
