Default TO bearing question

my tranny is in the car, the engine isnt

i unbolted the bolt on the arm of the TO bearing to slide the pin out so i can replace it, but now it shifted so i cant get the bolt back in, and i cant slide that arm/pin out to replace the TO bearing

anyone have any suggestions? that DONT require dropping the tranny

remove radiator to slide the cross shaft out to change the TO.

once slid back in, lift up on the clutch arm to align the bolt holes.

well i got the bolt back in the shaft, never got it out to replace it

do the D-series trannys have to be dropped to change the throw out bearing? i cant understand why they would need to be.. if i cant replace it i'll just reuse the old one i guess
