ball joint without bearing press???
i need to replace my ball joint TODAY! i'm gonna be driving my car to fl tomorrow and don't want to risk the ghetto 'bj' i've been rocking for a couple months (some of you may remember). anyways, i know some of you have said you've done it without getting it pressed out, can someone shed some light on how to do this?

use a bench vise with an atachment or big socket, or a big C clamp

Re:ball joint without bearing press???
they have a hand tool you can barrow from autozone....you pay a deposit they give it back when your done. take the part with you and do it in the parking lot, they may not even make you pay a deposit.

Re:ball joint without bearing press???
yea i bought one..kinda pricey if you get all the adapters, and you might need a big pipe to get some torque on it, but it works. I snapped a 1/2 inch breaker bar changing the joints on my old s-10, lol.

so you just pay them a deposit and get it back when you return the tool? you don't actually have to pay anything except the refundable deposit? |
