Bad stumbling/backfiring
 

Whats up guy's? I'm going to ask this here because I just finished installing my MPFI and mini-me swap. It seems like it's running really rich (smells of fuel out the exhaust), and when I attempt to rev it, it slowly revs through the RPM range with a stumble, especially in the lower RPM's.
I'm thinking it could be the timing, or the TPS possibly, but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions I can look into tomorrow. I did the MPFI wiring the way every one reccomends, switching the TPS wires etc, however I noticed my TPS is positioned differently than most others in the fact that the connector part points down and not up.
I'm not sure if I needed to reverse the wires or what. It's confusing me, but I am wanting to hear some other suggestions so that I can work on it tomorrow with hopefully some success.

i know when i was messing around with some vacum lines my car was smelling of gas and most likely running rich. maybe theres some vacum lines mixed up :-\

Hmmm, will check it out "Fo Sho" man. I know I wasn't quite sure where some of the vacuum ines went, but I figured just plugging them into a cacuum sorce at the IM was good enough :-\

yeah check your map sensor and related equipment... thats probably what it is

make sure you got everything connected and the injectors wired right.

Sure will :) I'll check it out this morning. Also forgot to mention this is my D15B7 block with Z6 head. It's still OBD-0 so I'm running the 90-91 Si distributor and MPFI setup. I've been thinking maybe I've got the 2 white distributor wires crossed, or even the crank angle sensor wires for whatever reason crossed. I'll definately go back over it.
I've been wanting to get a Z6 distributor because it will fit the head perfectly, unlike this OBD0 Si distributor which basically allows 0 adjustment and only lines up with 1 bolt hole :-\ A Z6 distributor should work with an OBD-0 setup correct? It would essentially be the same as the OBD2 distributors working in an OBD-1 equipt engine.

Hmmm, well I checkjed my wiring and everything is good. This morning I started it and it fired right up. Ran perfectly and I even went for a rip down the road. But, it seems that when it gets up to operating temperature, thats when it starts stumbling, backfiring, and the throttle goes to ----.
I've unplugged the IACV/EACV (whatever) and it runs exactly the same as it does when plugged in. I get no codes or CEL's (with all sensors connected). My radiator fan is also not turning on. I'm wondering if it's a faulty coolant temp switch or something screwing with me :-\

Gotta be ignition. Check your cap/rotor

Ok, I've determined it only happens when the engine gets hot. The radiator fan is not turning on for whatever reason. I might put it on a manual switch and see what happens. I have no hood on the car and I went for a drive (I know, I'm a hillbilly, what can I say) and the stumbling/studdering problem did not occur while I was driving. I'm thinking for some reason the increased airflow thats keeping the engine cool, is somehow preventing it from studdering and stumbling.
As soon as I got back to my driveway, and let it sit for a few minutes, the top radiator hose became real hot, and the stumbling problem started to happen again... This is really confising me :-\ I might have a dual radiator fan setup from my Integra laying around I could hook up, but I'm curious to know why it's doing this.
