Default B20B CR 11.4:1, is this good?

I would just like to know if the compression ratio of 11.4:1 on a B20B will be good. I dont plan to run more, I want a reliable motor.

a stock headed b20 is not worth much
a stock block boosted b20 isnt worth much either

i am stating all this based on what uve posted with ur previous build

Well the thing is spoony is helping me pick one out, I know they are 8.8:1 stock, but I plan on going the CRVTEC route where accoring to the compression ratio calculator it will be around 11.4:1 with the pistons I will be using are (JDM) B18C pistons, I have a choice of going with a LS head non vtec setup where I can use B16 pistons to get the same CR, I have been told to ease off on the CR by everyone on HT because of the thin sleeves on the B20, so in the 11's is where I want to be. maybe high 10.something:1 This will be an all motor setup if I get this motor but I will be considering running a 35 shot of nitrous on it tops, so I dont ---- it up. but we will see, a CRVTEC with ITB's header and full exhaust with proper cams can make over 220 to the wheels and in a 2300 lb car thats good enough for high 12's with proper tuning and traction. Dont forget that they make more torque than horsepower because of the stroke on it.

w/ a vtec head u'll get more hp then trq.. but thats good too!

Use the vtec head w/ b18c pistons and a slight thicker head gasket.. that should drop it to acceptable levels.

are you going obd1? (or already are obd1?) I would.

It might be better to get a b18a block, and use a b18c1 crank. then bore it a hair.. maybe u can get 1.9l w/ good sleeves

I'm not messing around with sleeving, boring and such bro, lol I just want somethig simple with potential and something different, and the CRV has it all.

Its already the OBD1 version, its from the 1st gen CRV B20B not B20Z, all I have to do is throw in a Vtak head off a b16, some OEM honda pistons of my choice and i'll be good. I just want to know if my sleeves will be safe in the 11.4:1 CR range, I heard of guys cracking them when they get in to the 12.something :1 range due to cheap gas and detonation, so I just want to be safe and know I can run lower octane and not blow my engine up. I usually use 89 octane on my cars so I cant break the tradition.

start using 91 w/ 11+ CR man!

I didnt mean SLEEVE it. I meant you could bore a b18 to get 1.9l w/ BETTER sleeves than a b20.

but.. if its a b20 u want..

i think all b20's are obd2 (the motors)...? there was no 95~ CRV was there?

Is the car obd1 or obd0?

b20 has the same stroke has an ls 89 mm. The difference is the bore. b16a/b18a/b/b18c=81 mm. b20=84mm
