b18b with vtec is LS-Vtec.. not a b18c.. sounds like you should just swap in a stock b18c motor and do alot of reading :y

well in my mind i think you should do the ls -vtec but they are alot of work my friend has one in his 94 hatch and it halls ass he also has a good number of bolt on and nitrous on his but there is a few kits out there for the swap that will give you almost everythign you need to do it like oil lines gaskets etc. But if you want to take the easy btu not cheap way of buying the b18c1 or even b18c5 motor then you have to buy the mount kit axles maybe a tranny set up from hasport to change from cable to hydro. if i were you if your afraid to ---- up the head swap it would probably be easier to just have a pro or shop do it for you or have a freind help.

if you use a b16a head and get a good deal on some ctr pistons and just rebuild the engine it will be one strong runner. if you just did the head swap on the stock bottom end it will still run well. either way $$$ unless you have sweet hookups..

Re: B18b to a b18c

ok while reading some stuff i noticed that the R/S ratio of the b18a-b is low and i think this decreases the motor's life but no specific info about it and some other people told just turbocharge the b18b, and here in egypt the LS/vtec won't cost as much as a b18c1 not even b18c5 thats why i want to do the ls/vtec because the c here is really overpriced.....so which is more reliable a turbo or an ls/vtec and turbo charging is more easier so which should i go for.....

your compression will be around 10:1 with a b16 and even a gsr head on a ls block, notice i say around, the b16 will have a bit lower comp cause the cc chambers are larger, lsvtec has to be the most universal best all around b series hybrid swap, i loved mine in my crx, your getting the most hp and tq for way cheaper then a c5 swap. and its not much work. just dont take your stock ls bottom end to 8500 to many times.

I've run a few ls/vtec turbos and have been very happy with them.

actually i wouldn't go more than 8000rpm before changing internals but will it be a reliable engine because its gonna be an autocross car and the autocross here has three rounds through the year.........

if u are doing ls vtec, change the rod bolts to ARP so they can hold safely over 8krpm
