b18a/b

i've got a 93 teg with a b18a (obd1), i just blew my engine and have found some good deals on newer b18b's, also meaning it would have lower miles, if i swap my b18a for a b, do i have to change my ecu and harness also, or is it a direct replacement?

if you get a 94/95 b18b, you should be able to just use ur stock harness/ecu and not change anything - at most, you will have to switch intake manifolds or lengthen a couple of wires (I think a couple of sensors are in different places). If you get 96+ , you will have to change the Distributor and Injectors to OBD 1 equipment cus the plugs will not fit the obd 1 harness. You will (99% sure) be able to use ur stock ecu/harness on both though.

are you sure you know what you are talking about, because i have a 93 and it is obd1, so why would i need to get obd1 injectors and dizzy, if my original engine is obd1?

Re:b18a/b

you just answered ur own question... u need obd 1 cus u have obd 1

oh, were you saying that 96+ are obd2? if so, all i would need is the injectors and dizzy of my original engine? wouldn't i need an obd2 ecu also if that's the case?

hey projekteg, if I were u, I would try to tear down and rebuild the motor. for the price you would spend buying new motor, you would be able to get some nice internals and crank up the boost/nos/whatever u use... I've seen it done on hydrolocked engines before even if u just tear down and rebuild stock...

no... u don't need obd2 ecu because the engines are basically the same (except for the dist plug/inject. plugs and this gay oil pump sensor) and you swapping in ur old injectors and dist will fix that.

yeah, i was thinking about it but i'm kind of in a hurry and my block has a hole the size of a softball in front of the #4 cylinder, i'm gonna pull it out today or tomorrow and see what else is fucked up, i might just buy a bare block and build it up but i've never fucked with internals before so i'm a little intimidated :-[

is anyone absolutely positive without a doubt that i will only have to change my dizzy and injectors, i'm going to buy a 96 (obd2) ls engine tomorrow and want to make sure i don't need to change my wiring harness and ecu, PLEASE, i need to know for sure before i buy the engine
