b16b pistons on b18a rods in b18a block
alright. motor finally took a ------ ---- in my da today so i got a spare block and thinking on a high compression ls build. im hearing mixed thoughts on me using b16b pct pistons on my stock rods... here are the things that i have heard...
-need to shave 1mm of the sides of the small end of the rods to fit the pistons -b18a rods will fit the pct pistons without modifications... i dont ------ know what the hell to believe. just wondering if anyone has first hand expreience with this. LMK Thanks Jay |
Re: b16b pistons on b18a rods in b18a block

same thing has to happen any time you put a piston from a P72 block (B16B/B18C1/B18C5 etc) into a PR3/PR4 block (B16A/B18A/B18B etc) :y those pistons will put you at too high of a CR...dont do it... use PR3s... |

Re: b16b pistons on b18a rods in b18a block
------- it just buy the right sized pm7 (zc) pistons. there higher comp but not extremely high. i dont know about fitting them on the rods so i wont throw my 2¢ in there. and why would you shave a rod the fit the block? just notch the block.... unless im not understanding you correctly.

why are you talking about d-series stuff |
Re: b16b pistons on b18a rods in b18a block
b16b pistons wont fit on b18a rods without shaving
b16b not equal b16a |

dont mind the 6mm difference in bore it'll seal nicely |

Re: b16b pistons on b18a rods in b18a block
he is asking if ctr pistons fit on b18a rods in a b18a block

Re: b16b pistons on b18a rods in b18a block
ok I have done this and they do work. but you must shave 1mm off the small end of the ls rod. if you are going to use the b16b/pcts you will be in the 12ish cr and depsite what people say this will run just fine on pump gas with moderate tuning. they really run best with 110+ but will make good power on pump. look to make in the high 190whp to low 200's with a set of regrinds on that setup.
