B16A1
Will a B16A1 engine work with a B16A2 ECU?
Are all the parts on the B16A2 swappable to the B16A1? I know the B16A1 makes less power, but what's the difference besides that?...The B16A1 has cable tranny and the A2 has hydro right? Does the Hydro tranny fit on the B16A1? And can the B16A1 be dropped in a 5th gen civic? |
Re:B16A1
as for the ecu...i dont believe the ecu's are swapable because your car is odb1 and the ecu is odb2...but if you converted your from odb1 car to odb2 then you can use the b16a2 ecu. pretty much all parts are swappable if im not mistaken...i could be wrong on that but im pretty damn sure they are. the difference between the 2 motors is mainly the odb levels..and since because of that there might be more plugs on the head....and a hydro tranny will bolt up to the b16a1 and yes the b16a1 can be put into a 5th gen civic.

Re:B16A1
Hmmm Sounds really sweet.
thanx for the info. |
Re:B16A1
One more question though.
If I put the B16A1 in a 5th gen civic...can I use the Cable tranny? Or do I have to go hydro? |
Re:B16A1
i do believe you will want to use the hydro tranny since your car has a hydrolic clutch.

Re:B16A1
hmmm true true.
I don't have a 5th gen civic yet...planning on getting one, or I might just get a 2nd gen CRX still nog decided yet. |
Re:B16A1
B16A1 = cable tranny and OBD 0
B16A2 = hydro tranny and OBD 1 or OBD2. It is year specific. OBD1= 92-95 OBD2= 96-99 |
Re:B16A1
if you get a crx get a cable tranny...get the 5g civic use the hydro tranny
|
Re:B16A1
It's a difficult dicision.
CRX's are cheap here I can get one for 900 bucks, in good condition the only problem it has some rust at the wheel weld :( |
Re:B16A1
its true they do, but so do the 5g civics. If your b16a1 came with a cable tranny and you cant just swap for a hydro i believe you can get a hydro to cable conversion thingy from hasport. I cant see changing to a cable tranny that hard. goin from a cable crx to a hydro is alot harder im sure.
As for power. I think they are the same hp, different tq. b16a1 is 160? (or is it 150?) b16a2 (99,00 civic Si/Sir) is 160hp. |
Re:B16A1
a1's also use hold and peak injectors that wont work with OBD1 setups unless you have a resistor box, so you will need to swap your normal (saturated) injectors in, and the coolant temp sensor plug will be relocated from the back of the block to the thermostat housing.

Re:B16A1
b16a1=160hp 10.3torq.
b16a2=170hp 10.2 torq. somthing like thati kno the hp is right but i am not sure about the torq i think the a1 has a bit more torq than the a2. |
Re:B16A1
I'm getting an A1 for sure.
It's cheaper here and there are a lot of them. True Hydro to Cable doesn't seem to difficult. the A1 is OBD0, so I will probably keep it OBD0..no need to go OBD1.Thanx for all the info guys. ;D I'll be getting my eninge soon. in a week or two. After that I will go hunting for a 5th gen civic. I'm just going crazy for that tight body and round ass on the civic ;). |
Re:B16A1
With the cable tranny I need the shift linkage that Hasport sells to make it work on de 5th gen civic?
The mounts are expensive though. Anywhere else that sell them cheaper? |
