B16A Swap, Questions,

Alright I am 16, therefore do not contain the superior knowledge of this stuff, i have decided to swap in a B16A into my 98' Ex. How hard is it exactly? Ive saved up about 1700$ for the swap, i HOPE thats enough, And when i get another1.8g's Im going to set the stage for power on it. But anyways...

Thanx in advance =)

Re:B16A Swap, Questions,

that might not be enough for a legit swap since you need a hydro trans, but im no pricing expert :P

you can try hmotorsonline.com I think you can pick up a first gen b16 for like $1200, but don't me to it.

Re:B16A Swap, Questions,

you dont want to put a B16a1 in there you need atleast a B16a2/3 to make hte swap work right. you will need axles and the motor and ECU and tranny, all in all they range from $2200 for the motor and tranny and ECU only all they way up to $3500 for a complete swap (everything you need.) Its not hard but you need a few big tools. (23 mm socket anyone?)

Re:B16A Swap, Questions,

it's the 32mm socket for the axle nuts. $1700 will not cover it, keep saving. Have about $500 extra for when stuff doesn't work. I ran out of money on my swap and that sucked, it took me a few months to get it done, but it runs now. Here's a little write up on how to do it in a crx:

I did mine different, but we all have our own ways.

Re:B16A Swap, Questions,

B16a1 is OBD 0 and would require you to havea new map sensor and dizzy as well as a mount kit for the tranny (the OBD 0 motors are cable and the 92+ motors are hydro (aside from teh 92-3 teg) ) its is far easier and aobut the same price just to put the motor of hte right OBD in there to begin with and then you dont have to ---- with the dizzy and tranny.

Re:B16A Swap, Questions,

thses guys are pretty much correct on there replies. if you put a b16a1 in there you will need to change the diistributor. plus you will need to buy a mount kit in order to complete the use of a cable tranny in you car. thats an extra 350.00 right there alone plus the cost of the new distributor.
