B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
So I saw this setup for a d16 engine here after looking in the LS rod swap thread:
http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/pistonnotes.htm So has anyone here done it? Looks pretty promising, HP wise, as the B16 rod is decently beefy, and if you can find the pistons for cheap, pretty inexpensive. There was someone on HT that did it, but all the pics were gone. |
Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
Good idea.
The rod to stroke looks kind of funky to me tho. :l |
Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
Just use TT rods with vitaras, good for 400hp.

Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
I think the problem is finding 1g-gte pistons. Since those motors are rare.

Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
Vitara cheaper, no shitty RS, knology sucks esp. the compression calc.
He won't correct the info. |

Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
by the time you find those pistons and buy them for? 150? and then get rods machined on you would be at the cost of a tt/eagle and vitara setup

Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
dayam how does someone just think of ---- like that?? i mean, D series, B series then JDM supra pistons??
but i agree just buy vitaras or some ---- cuz sourcing a 1g motor is pretty hard enough, let alone the pistons. i thot of putting a 1ggte, but its kinda a dead end dinosaur motor |

D15B8, VX Rods, PM7's, simple, slightly above deck, 14:1 compression. Hot rodding the old way, which is how HMT was born. |
Re: B16A rods + 1ggte pistons?
I remember this just before Vitara's became the big hit. Someone on HT with the name TurboPanda or something has been running Supra pistons in his D for a while. It's a Filipino trick, like how Vitaras came out of Puerto Rico. Neat stuff really.. too bad IIRC they don't sell the pistons here in the US like you have to import them.
