b16a not firing all cylinders sometimes.??

Well 2 days ago i was trvling down road and was in third gear i decided to speed up and i hit vtec and the engine started to sound like it was running on 2-3 cylinders, sounded like a boxer engine...It would do this off and on, i first thought it was the plugs so i cleaned them and put back in no go, then i changed out for new ones, the car still did it and then it started to run like normal for 2-3 miles..then again it would do it when i accelerated, its weird...well i ran that tank out and putn new gas in it, and it didnt do it again until today when i accelerated heavily from a stop...then when i let off after 5-10 seconds it went away....I have a 1990 honda civic si hb, i pretty much have never had any problems with swap, but this is stumping me, the plug wires are excellent, the dizzy has been replaced by a newer one from hmotorsonline.com, and dizzy cap is good...Its sounds like a ignition problem, or could it have just been bad gas or condensation build up in gas tank that went thru fuel system into engine? any comments.?? thanx

highly highly doubt its a gas problem... Sounds like u have a pretty stock b16 set up there, i was just wondering, did you get a cel when this is happening? If not your timing may be off.. or you might just have a bad injector or plugs arent gapped right.. the new ones... Also it could be ur fuel pump
just my thoughts

Thats a pretty vauge description... and would be pretty difficult to diagnose by that. It could be alot of things, from a tweaky map sensor to a bad batch of gas.

Re:b16a not firing all cylinders sometimes.??

O.k well it is still doing it but not as frequently.. It only appears to happen when i take off from a stop and rev out 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to 7k, the engine will begin to sound like it is hitting a rev limiter, but it is not the rev limiter...Because it will do it at 5-6k sometimes....It is the weirdest thing i have encountered with this engine. I dont think it can be timing, i have never messed with it, i will change plug wires and see if that helps. I really am stumped though...The engine runs fine until i get in the high rpm range from 6500- redline on is when the problem occurs, i have cheked grounds they are god, i have looked in dizzy and the rotor is good and so is cap no corrosion, i will check to see if cel light comes on, it is always on though cant find one plug for eld system...But other than that i will check...the car idles fine, and runs great until high rpms which sux is because that is where the b16 shines...God this pisses me off...Has anyone ever had this problem and wires were the culprit? thanx all for the help.

I found out the problem was the fuel injector closest to the dizzy isnt working right, i started the car and it was idling on 3 cylindersso i popped hood and messed with soem stuff and i started towiggle the injector harness, and the and the car strated to idle right, i would mess around with it someomore and the injector would stop working it sounded like..so i think i have a bad injector..

dude it quite possibly be a bad connection i am gonna change the fuel injector and drive it to see if it continues if it does i will work on connection...sux ass..but at least it is simple..huh

If you try that it still doesnt help you might want to check the spark plug wires and see if they are in the right spots on the dizzy since you just got a new one.

everything is fixed and working fine, the problem was that a small peice of steel wool( one little strand) fell in the injector plug, and connected the 2 prongs which shorted out the injector, i just replaced the injector, the steel wool got in there when i was cleaning intake manifold one time, silly me...jeez it is running good as hell now thanx everyone, im a dumbass ;D
