b16a or b18a?

The advantages for a b18a... It's got lower compression so you're less likely to detonate. It's also got more torque, so putting around town means you won't be shifting as much.

The b16a has two advantages... High end breathing (VTEC Baby!) and way shorter gears.

All else being equal (turbo size/boost levels/gearbox) the b18 will spool faster than a b16a.

My advice would be to go with the b18a, and swap in the b16a head (and/or tranny) onto it if you're still unhappy!

i don't know about that because before i sold my teg (b18b), i let my boy drive it and i raced him in my si (b16) and spanked him, i found it hard to believe because tho me, the b18 did feel faster (that was just the torque that made it feel that way), so i let him drive the si, and i drove the teg, thinking maybe he was a shitty driver and i would surely smoke him with me driving the teg, nope, he still walked me with my b16. the b18 had i/h/e, and the b16 only had i/e. i just find it hard to believe that a boosted b16 can only keep up with a na b18 with 6 lbs of boost when my na b16 smoked my na b18.

civic's/crx's also weigh less than teg's so you have to take that into consideration.

honestly, i'm not sure of the weight of either, but it was a 93 teg which is lighter than the newer tegs, and a 00 si, which is heavier than the older civics, if i had to guess, i would say they prolly weigh about the same. either way, a b16 has almost 30 more hp than a b18, it's gonna take a pretty big weight difference to make it lose.
