B16a axle, how do you remove these suckers?
SO I need to swap out suspensions on my car. And I was looking at the dirvers side axle and I dont get how it comes out.
ive taken the axle out of my stock civic with an Si motor, the axle just pops out once you remove the end form the hub. But on this car (90 dx with b16 1st gen) its got some sort of bracket thats bolted to the block holding it. What gives? |
Re: B16a axle, how do you remove these suckers?
Unbolt the bracket holding it to the block... B series have an extra piece.

Re: B16a axle, how do you remove these suckers?
thats a mid axle, and you shouldn't have to remove it to remove your suspension-- the axle that goes to the wheel is separate from the one bolted to the block and will just pull apart. some prying may be required ;)

So b16 axles are both short? same size? interchangeable?
Can you just pop it out of whatever is bolted to the block? Ive never even seen one, a girl I know wants to swap one in shortly though |
Re: B16a axle, how do you remove these suckers?
yes they are both short but not interchangeable as the ends are different
|
Re: B16a axle, how do you remove these suckers?
i like to use a brass drift and hammer to pop the drivers side out of the intermediate shaft
