can someone tell me the b16 1st and 2nd gen. years they were made like.. (88-89)for example and their specs

ok, well there should be a stamp somewhere on the front of the block stating the yar it was made. but a 89-91 b16 is a 1g and 92 + is a 2g I believe.

there are so many variations of B16A's..like the 88-90(not sure on those years) crx and civic SiR (jdm)came with the b16a1, the 95-97 delsols came with a b16a3(had a dohc delsol its called a delsol VTEC). and the 99-00 civic Si has a b16a2(which i own now).

All JDM Honda motors have a 4 character stamp with 2 numbers and 2 letters ie: B16A.. JDM motors DO NOT have a 5 character that is saved for the "world market" ie: B16A3.. Now with that out of the way all JDM b16s say are stamped B16A. Just above the exhaust manifold over #2 or 3 there is a date stamp with 88 or 94 whatever that will tell you that year it was made.
Now as far as specs obd-o (88-91) CR-X/Civic SiR and Integra's are 1st gen B16's 160hp 111Tq with 10.2:1 cr Automatic ones are 150hp. The best way to tell the "OBD" is the Dist. harness plugs ---- all that well it has this Valve Cover or this Intake manifold look at the plugs. The 1st gen have a White(ish)color of plugs on the harness and the exhaust manifold will be bunged for 2 2wire o2 sensors. If you see this I will bet its a 1st gen motor.

2nd gen JDM B16s are 170hp with 113tq and a 10.4:1 CR. The plugs on the dist will be grey go look at the dist on your Civic and you will see what I am talking about. Also it uses 1 4 wire o2.

All US spec B16's the B16A3 94-97 Del Sol VTEC and B16A2 99-00 Civic Si are the same specs as a 1st gen JDM B16. 160hp 111Tq and 10.2:1 CR.. All Us B16s are obd1 or obd2 so there Grey Plug. Did this Help? any more qustions feel Free to ask..
