b series oiling systems?
 

the mechanical part of builting a high revving motor holds true for any motor, light well balanced bottom end, adn a stiff enough valvetrain, and youve got no problems, but in most toyota aplications, the oiling system runs into problems well before rotating mass become the problem.... are there any differences in a type R oiling setup VS say a b20 or LS?

There are some slight differences, the biggest one being the oil squirters that spray the pistons to cool them off in a b-series vtec motor. I've talked to quite a few machinists over the past few months though that say that the oil flow design of the b-series vtec motor is flawed, mostly dealing with oil starvation during vtec engagement, and the way the oil galleys are designed and chamfered on the crank journals. As a rule, any motor out there requires at the very least 10 psi of oil pressure per every 1000 rpm. So that being said, any vtec motor that spins to 8000 rpm would require at least 80 psi of oil pressure, preferably more. And most factory honda oil pumps that i've seen rarely make above 80 psi when they're warmed up to operating temp, unless you run a thicker grade oil. Just a thought to keep in mind ;)
