Default B-series cam question.

Now I know that the b16b intake cam on the civic type r motor has the most aggressive cam u can get oem...But my question would be related to the exhaust cam, i have heard some people say that all b-series exhaust cams are the same, just wondering if any could clear this up for me thanx.

most people use a combo.

CTR/ITR cams. you are right, the CTR is the best cam for either intake or exhaust.

but for the other cam, the ITR and CTR are the same. The ITR tends to be cheaper because it's not as rare.

*ive been told* that if you wanna run a CTR/ITR cam, its worthless without the ctr/itr valve-train, if you want its full potential. Its kinda common sense if you think about it.
*I have also been told* ITR cams are the best as far as OEM honda goes.
*I have noticed* most build ups with these cams and have a CTR cam for intake/ITR for EX. I dont know why, but it seems to be popular.

I know the valvetrain doesnt have to be upgraded if u keep the stock rev limit of 8200, but anything above that like 9000 on the ctr, and itr will need to be upgraded the cam isnt too agreesive that the stock valvetrain needs to be upgraded, i have seen also alot of people doing the ctr intake cam and itr exhaust cam just need to know if the itr exhaust cam is a larger duration than the stock 1st gen b16a, so i dont waste time and money changing over the smae duration cam...i am searching on google but not to much info..

I found some specs... CTR intake cam duration-243
ITR intake cam duration-240
CTR AND ITR exhaust cam duration-235, both the same now just need to find out what the b16a exhaust cam duration is.

http://www.teirney.net/civic/B16AReference.htm this is a good site...the b16a cam duration on the exhaust side is 227, so the itr cam is larger 235...
